How StoreBeam collects, uses, stores, and shares information when merchants install and use the app.

Store information

Store details, catalog records, theme configuration, robots settings, and published sales channel signals accessed through the Shopify API.

Usage data

Pages viewed within the app, features used, fix actions taken, readiness scores, and detected issues from scans.

Third parties

OpenAI, Shopify, Cloudflare, Neon, and Upstash process data only as needed to provide app functionality.

StoreBeam ("we," "our," or "us") provides a Shopify application that helps merchants optimize their product catalog for AI commerce readiness. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share information when you install and use the StoreBeam app.

Information We Collect

Store Information

When you install StoreBeam, we access the following data from your Shopify store through the Shopify API:

  • Store details: Store name, domain, email address, and plan information
  • Product data: Product titles, descriptions, images, image URLs, metafields, variants, tags, categories, vendor, product type, pricing, inventory status, and collections
  • Store configuration: Theme settings to manage app embeds and app blocks, robots.txt configuration, and published sales channels

Account Information

  • Your Shopify store owner email address provided during app installation via Shopify OAuth

Usage Data

  • App interaction data, including pages viewed within the app, features used, and fix actions taken
  • Scan results, including AI readiness scores and detected issues for your products

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Scan and score your product catalog for AI commerce readiness
  • Generate fix suggestions including category recommendations and metafield value extraction using third-party AI services (OpenAI)
  • Apply approved fixes to your Shopify products when you explicitly approve them
  • Display your readiness scores, issues, and progress within the app
  • Improve the app by understanding usage patterns and common issues in aggregated form

Third-Party Services

OpenAI

We send product data, including titles, descriptions, tags, variant names, and image URLs, to OpenAI's API to generate category suggestions, metafield value extraction, alt text suggestions, and description improvements. OpenAI processes this data according to their API data usage policy and does not use data submitted via the API to train their models.

Shopify

Your store is hosted on Shopify. Shopify collects and processes your customers' personal data as described in Shopify's Privacy Policy. Our app operates within the Shopify platform and accesses your store data through Shopify's authorized API.

Infrastructure Providers

We use the following services to operate the app:

  • Cloudflare for application hosting and background job processing
  • Neon for PostgreSQL database hosting
  • Upstash for Redis-backed rate limiting

These providers process data on our behalf and are contractually obligated to protect it.

Data We Store

  • Your store's Shopify domain and access credentials in encrypted form
  • Product scores, detected issues, and fix suggestions generated during scans
  • A record of fixes you have approved and applied
  • Skipped issue records, which are cleared on each new scan
  • Your plan tier and usage data

We do not store your customers' personal data. We do not access customer data, order data, or any personal information about your store's buyers.

Data Retention

  • Product scores and fix history are retained while the app is installed
  • Skipped issues are cleared when a new scan runs
  • Access tokens are deleted when you uninstall the app

When you uninstall StoreBeam, we delete your store data from our systems within 30 days in compliance with Shopify's API terms. You may request earlier deletion by contacting us.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information to third parties. We share data only:

  • With the third-party services listed above, solely to provide app functionality
  • When required by law, regulation, or legal process
  • To protect the rights, safety, or property of StoreBeam, our users, or the public

Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction or deletion of your data
  • Object to or restrict processing of your data
  • Export your data in a portable format

Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption of access tokens, secure API communication over HTTPS, and access controls on our infrastructure.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a notice within the app or by email. Your continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
